Joe Cohen — Professional Bio
Professionally, I am a mechanical engineer (UT-BSME), and a business leader (UT-MBA). I have grown my consulting firm from 4 to 300 people. As a professional finance leader managing a multimillion-dollar consulting practice I have had the opportunity to work with all types of personalities under varying agendas. I do not hold grudges. I don’t burn bridges but consistently work on building relationships and progressing the business at hand. I like to think and plan long-term. Outside of professional roles, I have served in leadership of Round Rock Independent School District’s Talented and Gifted Parent Advisory Council for 2 terms as President and as the Treasurer of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 259. Additionally, I’ve coached Town & Country Optimistic Club Soccer teams and led the fundraising for Cub Scout Pack 159. Leadership responsibilities, whether empowering your team, building trust between colleagues, or collaborating for the greater good cannot be taken lightly. I would work to serve you well should I have the opportunity to share my experience with this lovely community. |
Thoughts on our love of Windermere - When we purchased our property in Windermere Oaks we fell in love with the peacefulness, the walkability of the neighborhood, and the wildlife. We enjoy the nighttime sounds of the crickets and frogs, and even learned what the fox sounds like! This is all coming from a family that has lived in Austin on and off since 1993. My 4 kids love living in both places and my wife and I feel fortunate to be able to get us all out of the city as we often do.
I believe that we, as Texans, have the right to enjoy the property we own. We have the right to be friendly to our neighbors and we have the right to be respected by our community and its leaders. If we’re lucky, make a few friends along the way.
Shortly after moving in, we started to hear the rumblings of neighborhood politics. I’ve lived in many places and been a member of numerous HOAs, and it has saddened to witness the level of division in this beautiful community. The way individuals have been led to spy on each other, patrol the neighborhood and take photographs to turn each other in, rather than working together for a cohesive peaceful neighborhood, is disappointing.

This is what has caused me to want to volunteer my time, service and previous HOA and business experience to this community.
The sole purpose of a Property Owner’s Association Board is to manage the Association budget and maintain common areas and roads for the safety and enjoyment of the property owners. Additionally, a board usually organizes the committees (social, architectural control, planning, etc.) that involve others in helping enhance the sense of “community” in the neighborhood. Windermere Oaks is fortunate to have a Reserve Study previously prepared for the POA, which should provide a blueprint guide for all Directors in maintaining and repairing WO amenities and roads. I am confident I can lend my business experience to help streamline operations & finances to keep Windermere on a progressive path. Let’s promote peace and tranquility to make Windermere Oaks the pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle it was always destined to be. If you vote for me I pledge to offer a respectful ear, and deliver reasonable direction for our neighborhood. Thank you for your consideration. JOE |
